Cecilia Talbot Lighting

Thoughtfully Designed.

My lighting design process has been one of creative problem solving and experimentation; one that has taken time to develop and get to an end point that excites me as much as my original concept.

Willow has really had a moment over the past few years as an excellent material for lampshades. The pliancy of the medium means it can, with the right support and techniques, be formed into an infinite variety of shapes and sizes, and this, coupled with the beauty of light thrown through different weaves and textures, makes for an irresistible combination when it comes to lighting.

I have long been drawn to this, but wanted my shades to be more flexible, working in the form of table lamps rather than simply suspended from ceilings.

I have therefore created a range of lamps that reflect my style- pairing chunky oak bases with handmade willow shades, using predominantly my homegrown Cornish willow. The antique brass toggle switches are integral to the base, pairing utility with beauty, and each base, having been hand prepared, is generously applied with homemade beeswax polish for a timeless and natural finish.

Make it your own: The shades have been designed to rotate, allowing for nuanced adjustments according to preference and positioning.

Ode to the Bases…

Available in standardised sizes and one-off pieces; each base drawing attention to knots, cracks, gnarls and natural imperfections; every lamp is an item of beauty, deserving of a lifetime in the limelight whether on or off.
