Terms and Conditions: Teaching

Pricing:

Teaching Days are priced as follows…

Basketry experience day - £100 per person. Private bookings are available for groups of 3-4 people.

Basketry School - £150. This covers four evenings over four consecutive months.

Celebration weave - £500 for groups of 2-4 people, private bookings only.

All prices include tuition, materials, use of tools, tea, coffee and biscuits, and of course your own handmade basket to take home.

Payment Information:

Once I have received your message (via the booking page), I will send you an email, confirming availability on your requested date. This email will include an invoice, and your booking will only be confirmed once payment has been made in full.

Cancellation Policy:

If you wish to cancel within 2 weeks of your teaching day, you will receive a 50% refund. If you wish to cancel anytime prior to the two weeks before your session, a 75% refund will be issued.

A lot of time and organisation goes into the preparation and planing of my teaching days, including the preparation of materials. Due to this, I am not able to offer full refunds - but please get in contact if you wish to change your date (before the 2 week window). Thank you for your understanding.

Number of people:

Due to the nature of the space and the depth of knowledge to share, all of my teaching days are limited to 2-4 people, except basketry school where numbers are capped at 5.

If you book a listed date for 2 people, the day will remain available to book for up to 2 more people, allowing you to meet others who share your interest. Private bookings are an exception to this.

Food & Dietary Requirements:

Tea, coffee and biscuits are an essential part of my working day, so are provided for all sessions. Please disclose any dietary requirements when booking. The biscuits are handmade by the bakery just over the hill. Dairy free can be provided, however I am unable to provide a Gluten free biscuit option.

Dairy milk is sourced from our local village dairy. Oat milk can be provided. Please let me know if this is required.

Allergies: While nothing contains nuts, all goods are baked within an environment that does handle nuts. Therefore I cannot guarantee nut-free.

Age Requirements:

The making of a basket involves the use of sharp and heavy tools. Because of this, I would recommend that only those over the age of 16 would be suitable to attend.

Physical Requirements:

Basketmaking can be hard on the hands, and fingers in particular. It is normal for most people to feel some stiffness in their hands by the end of the day, as you will be using muscles that you might not normally use. However, it may prove too demanding for those with arthritis or limited finger/hand control and movement.

Clothing:

Please note that working with willow can be a little grubby. Please wear clothes that are suitable for manual work, or bring an apron.

Access:

Access to the front canopy is flat, and therefore wheelchair accessible. However, there are two steps leading into the studio area - where food and drink is served. There’s also a toilet inside the studio, which is not wheelchair accessible.

In the Summer months teaching will take place in the front canopy of the Nissen hut, and feasting in the rear studio, or outside weather permitting. During the cooler months both feasting and teaching occur in the studio.

Location:

All teaching will take place in my studio, located in rural St. Newlyn East, Newquay, Cornwall. Full address and directions will be given upon booking.

Availability:

Teaching generally takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays.

If you have any further questions, or need to discuss any personal requirements, please let me know in your message submission, or get in touch via email.
